Spectral type T5-7. Using proper motion studies, Peña Ramírez et al. (2011) and (2015) deem S Ori 70 not a likely member of the Sigma Orionis cluster, rather a foreground field T-type dwarf with peculiar colors or a planet escaping from the Orion region.
